1 on 1 with: Cody Cabeza

Cody Cabeza is a Sales and Applications Engineer for ONICON.  In this role he engages with customers and representatives for application support, quoting, and technical assistance for products in the ONICON and Air Monitor family. Cody took some time out of his busy schedule to go 1 on 1 with AEB.

Can you provide us with a little of your professional background?

I have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and have worked for ONICON and Air Monitor for the last 6 years. I spent 4 years in the industrial/process division where I specialized in airflow measurements in numerous industries. The rest of my time has been dedicated to commercial HVAC hydronic, gas and air flow measurement applications.

What can you tell us about life outside of work?

I went to school locally at University of South Florida in Tampa. Most of my family live in or around the bay here. I am currently living about 8 minutes from work in an apartment but will be moving back into my home in Tampa in July. I lived in California for a few years as well and recently made the move back to Florida.

What is a normal workday like for you?

Every day starts with a morning walk with my dog. Then I will enjoy some coffee or espresso while I log into my computer and get started on some emails. I probably spend a couple hours a day on the phone engaging with customers and a few more responding to emails. The in-between is where the magic happens, and we all work together to make ONICON and Air Monitor great.

OK so what about the weekend? What does a typical Saturday look like?

Right now, I am living about 10 minutes from the beach. Typically, you will find me there with my toes in the sand and a beer in my hand. Or you will find me on the road with my animals exploring some place new.

What’s the best part about working at ONICON?

The people. We have an amazing group that goes the extra mile for not only their customers but for their coworkers as well.

What are some of the biggest changes you’ve seen in the industry throughout your career?

The attention being called to outside air measurement and airflow in general with the importance of building health. Even more so with the health concerns we face now.

What sets ONICON apart and how does the company help customers overcome some of the issues you mentioned?

We have unique solutions tailored to every application. There isn’t a one size fits all approach with our products and we have the resources and proof why that approach is better.

What can we look forward to from ONICON in the coming year?

The next generation of insertion electromagnetic meter and VELTRON III are projects to keep your eye on!

How long have you worked with AEB and what is your experience with that company?

We first started working together back in 2016 when I was fresh at ONICON. Even when I moved to the industrial side of the business, we kept a good report with each other. They are extremely knowledgeable in the instrumentation business, and we could always count on them to quote projects accurately and timely.

OK last question. What do you enjoy doing away from work? Any interesting hobbies?

My preferred state of being is in my Jeep with the top off and on some trail. I explored a lot of California that way. There is something about the wilderness and the freedom to explore that calls to me. I wouldn’t say it’s a hobby, but most people find it interesting that I bring my cats on these road trips as well.
